Pay Slips - When and How?

Section 45 (2) of the Employment Act is silent on specific time periods for the provision of pay slips, but by strict interpretation it would appear that this must be “at every payment of wages” i.e. immediately.

“Every employer shall, at every payment of wages furnish each employee with a statement of the wages due to him for his services for the period for which payment is made and such statements shall show clearly the amounts of and the reasons for any additions to, or deductions or other variations from, the normal wage for the period.”

No specific medium for conveying the information is stipulated in the Act therefore leaving this open. Care must be taken, however, to comply with Data Protection legislation when choosing method of delivery (e.g. by e-mail).
